Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between resizing and compressing?
Resizing changes the image's pixel dimensions (e.g. from 4000×3000 to 800×600), which also reduces file size. Compressing keeps the same dimensions but reduces file size by adjusting quality. If you just want a smaller file at the same dimensions, try the Image Compressor instead.
Why does "Maintain aspect ratio" matter?
It keeps your image from looking stretched or squished. When enabled, changing the width automatically adjusts the height (and vice versa) to match the original proportions.
Which format should I choose?
JPG is best for photos and smaller file sizes. PNG is best when you need transparency or sharp edges (like logos or screenshots with text). WebP offers a good balance of quality and file size for web use.
